CITIREACH BOSTON
As I write this, there are no middle or high school- age students attending worship at St Andrew’s Church regularly (I sincerely wish that were not so!). Still, we soldier on as a faith community, seeking ways to invite and welcome students to our church. One relative ‘success’ in that department was our December 2019 trip to The Cathedral Church of St Paul, Boston, as part of Common Cathedral’s CityReach Program. Consisting mainly of students unaffiliated with any faith community, but instead, participants in an extracurricular group at the high school focusing on Social Justice, our group boasted 33 students and four adult volunteers—three from the high school. Students learned and saw firsthand about homelessness, and had the opportunity to work together to provide meals, clothing and shelter to Boston’s unhoused population. Since this was the second year the high school students attended this event, we are hopeful the high school group will seek to make this trip an annual event!
There is little question that our students remain hungry to work for the poor, hungry, unsheltered, oppressed and marginalized in our world—as Christians, we are being called (and challenged) to help connect them, in whichever way, with the means to satisfy that hunger.

Time, Talent & Treasure Auction 2019
Our fourth Time and Talent ***note catch the addition of Treasure!***, Auction was held on Saturday, September 21st. The proceeds this year were to help cover the cost of the reVision program in which we are currently engaged. We truly are blessed to have so many angels in our parish. There were the tried and true items such as cookies, flower arrangements, and pies, but this year included many wonderful works of art, from watercolors to oils, from ornaments to jewelry and two possible trip destinations – upcountry and across the country!
To everyone who helped in some way we are grateful from setup crew, to our cooks and our fun auctioneer Christine White. Our four time champion record keeper, Jennifer Kennedy, once again made the work look easy of tracking the final winning bidders and tallying their purchases. This year we advanced to using numbered paddles to try and make her job easier!
Finally to those who held winning bids (don’t be afraid to collect what you purchased… all the contact information was on the certificates), to the new friendships started and our beloved cleanup folks who always help at the end of any event ( we know who you are!), we thank you for another successful Time, Talent and Treasure Auction!

CHRISTMAS IN EDGARTOWN 2019
It was a rainy, blustery Christmas in Edgartown, with some groups cancelling their Parade participation, but St. Andrew’s was there with hot chocolate, coffee, cookies and other goodies to greet all who arrived for a warm reception. We had invited the Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, Houses of Grace to participate if folks wanted to give alternate Christmas gifts by donating to these causes. We had a table set to provide supplies so that people could write cards to Service members who are away for the holidays. We had fewer participants than usual because of the weather but those who came were filled with the holiday spirit and grateful for the goodies and good cheer. Thank you to all who baked, set up, cleaned and helped make this another successful endeavor.
